Exciting Year-Round Events Coming to St. Pete Pride!

St. Petersburg is buzzing with excitement as St. Pete Pride announces its brand-new lineup of year-round events! In response to the community’s enthusiastic request for more festivities outside of the typical Pride season, the organization has unveiled an exciting series of programs just in time for its 23rd annual celebration.

Workshops, Bingo, and More!

Mark your calendars because the fun kicks off on March 16 with a fantastic Student Spoken Word Workshop tailored for creative minds aged 13-18. This workshop will take place at Allendale United Methodist Church, located at 3803 Haines Rd. N, from 2-4 p.m. It promises to connect young storytellers through the art of poetry while addressing the vital connection between social justice and their craft.

Next on the agenda is a lively night of Pride Bingo at The Study, scheduled for March 19 from 6-9 p.m. This 18+ event will be hosted and performed by the St Pete Pride Court, ensuring that participants have a blast while supporting a great cause.

Then, don’t miss the monthly Open Mic Night at the Werk Gallery on March 21 from 7-9 p.m. Open to all ages, this inclusive gathering encourages brave souls to showcase their talents through spoken word, poetry, storytelling, comedy, and more. There’s just a suggested donation of $5 to keep the creativity flowing!

Book Lovers Unite!

Literary enthusiasts will also find a home with the launch of a Student Banned Book Club on March 27. This engaging program will meet from 6-7:30 p.m. at Allendale UMC, specifically for youth aged 14-18. To kick things off, the club will dive into Maya Angelou’s beloved classic, “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings.” This book club will meet on the last Thursday of every month, focusing on various banned or challenged books each session. Participants will engage in thought-provoking discussions exploring themes and the impact of censorship.
