Sponsor Our ArticlesThe search continues for Sudiksha Konanki, a University of Pittsburgh junior missing since March 6, 2025. Authorities, family, and friends are tirelessly working to find her in the Dominican Republic after she vanished during a spring break trip. Concerns about her safety grow as the investigation incorporates multiple agencies, amid fears of potential kidnapping. Sudiksha is remembered fondly by her community, and her family urges a thorough search. Support from local authorities and international entities keep hope alive as the search intensifies.
The search for Sudiksha Konanki, a charming and ambitious 20-year-old junior student at the University of Pittsburgh, is growing more urgent as authorities, family, and friends work tirelessly to find her in the Dominican Republic. Sudiksha has been missing since March 6, 2025, after she went on a spring break trip to Punta Cana with five other female students.
Sudiksha was last seen that fateful night at 4:15 a.m. on surveillance footage entering the beach area at the Riu República Hotel. She was with a group consisting of five women and two men. However, what began as a fun vacation turned into a nightmare when Sudiksha didn’t return to her hotel room later that day. Her companions, worried about her safety, reported her missing to hotel staff around 4 p.m.
What makes this situation even more concerning is that a sarong-style cover-up belonging to Sudiksha was found on a lounge chair at the beach, and there were no signs of violence reported. It raises alarming questions about her whereabouts and safety.
A man in his twenties, reportedly the last person to see Sudiksha, is under investigation but has not been labeled a suspect. With the stakes so high, the search for Sudiksha is being executed with a solid collaboration among authorities from the Dominican Republic, the U.S., and India. Search teams are utilizing search dogs, drones, helicopters, and marine equipment, leaving no stone unturned as they seek any leads on her location.
Sudiksha’s father, Subbarayudu Konanki, filed a missing persons report around 5:43 p.m. on March 6 and has expressed his alarm that the investigation might focus solely on the possibility of drowning. The family particularly urges authorities to consider other scenarios, including potential kidnapping or human trafficking. This concern is fueled by Sudiksha’s belongings, including her phone and wallet, being left behind with friends—something completely out of character for her.
The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office has even filed for a Yellow Notice, a worldwide police alert for missing persons issued by Interpol. Hotel staff and local authorities are also participating in the ongoing search efforts, with forensic specialists actively reviewing surveillance footage for missed clues.
In an effort to enhance the investigation, the Dominican National Police have created a high-level commission that includes the FBI and the Attorney General’s Office. Over 300 agents and specialists have been deployed to the hotel area where Sudiksha was last seen, ramping up the search intensity as time goes on.
The overarching concern from family, friends, and the community continues to echo through social media and public forums, describing Sudiksha’s disappearance as a “nightmare.” She’s remembered as a bright individual, standing at 5 feet 3 inches tall, with black hair and brown eyes, last seen wearing a brown bikini adorned with various jewelry.
There has been substantial media coverage and public speculation surrounding the circumstances of her disappearance. Authorities are cautioning the public against jumping to conclusions without verifying details. They emphasize the importance of relying on verified information as the investigation continues.
The Embassy of India is also stepping in to lend support, coordinating with Dominican Republic authorities as part of the ongoing efforts to locate Sudiksha. The hope remains that this collaborative search will soon bring some answers and lead to the safe return of a beloved student and daughter.
As the days go by, love and concern for Sudiksha continue to unify everyone around this vital search, injecting optimism amidst a troubling situation.
