Sponsor Our ArticlesCBRE has announced the promotion of Gian Rodriguez to the position of Senior Managing Director in Miami. Rodriguez brings extensive experience in commercial real estate, having previously worked at Cushman & Wakefield. In his new role, he will oversee operations across Miami and Fort Lauderdale, managing a team of over 200 associates. With a proven track record in the industrial sector, Rodriguez is expected to enhance CBRE’s positioning in South Florida’s dynamic market.
Big news in the heart of Miami! On March 17, CBRE announced a fantastic promotion that’s bound to shake things up in the real estate scene. Gian Rodriguez has stepped up to the plate as the new senior managing director, bringing with him a wealth of experience and enthusiasm.
In his shiny new role, Rodriguez is now responsible for the daily operations of CBRE’s offices in both Miami and Fort Lauderdale. That’s right, folks! He will be overseeing a strong team of 205 associates, ensuring everything runs smoothly in these bustling markets. But it’s not just about managing the teams; Rodriguez will also keep overseeing CBRE’s industrial platform across sunny South Florida.
Rodriguez previously made waves at Cushman & Wakefield, where he spent more than a decade honing his skills and knowledge in the commercial real estate arena. So, what brought him to CBRE? Well, in January 2024, he was recruited for the role of managing principal to handle Cushman & Wakefield’s South Florida offices. Fast-forward a bit, and he’s now taking the reins of CBRE’s Miami market, where he’s been managing operations and guiding a dedicated team of 130 associates in Miami-Dade County.
And if that doesn’t sound busy enough, Rodriguez’s new leadership role will also include overseeing CBRE’s 75 associates in Broward County. This expansion means he’ll get to make an even bigger impact across both regions.
While Rodriguez takes on these ambitious tasks, it’s crucial to note that he won’t be going it alone. There’s strong support from Josh Bank, the executive managing director and market leader for Florida. Bank will continue overseeing the entire state while working closely with Rodriguez. Additionally, Susan Bands, managing director for Palm Beach County, will contribute to this collaborative effort. Talk about a dream team!
Rodriguez isn’t new to the game; he’s had a significant impact on the Miami market in just over a year with CBRE. His impressive resume boasts over $2 billion in industrial sales and leases throughout his career, showcasing his knack for navigating the complexities of commercial real estate.
However, it’s worth mentioning that the South Florida industrial market faced some turbulence last year. Higher interest and insurance rates, coupled with some election-related uncertainty, led to a noticeable slowdown. Despite this, the leasing activity in warehouse spaces saw a boost as businesses adapted to tariff challenges. Rodriguez’s experience here will be vital as he steers his teams through these changing waters.
As a Miami native, Rodriguez is deeply connected to the community. Bilingual in English and Spanish, he’s a valuable asset in fostering relationships across diverse client bases. He earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Florida and has remained active in industry circles. Notably, he sits on the Board of Directors for NAIOP’s South Florida chapter, continuously advocating for growth and excellence in the industry.
In 2019, Rodriguez’s hard work didn’t go unnoticed; he was named one of South Florida Business Journal’s ’40 Under 40.’ Now, he’s recognized again as one of the Power Leaders 250 for 2025. With such accolades, it’s clear that Rodríguez’s journey is one to watch closely.
As he steps into this new chapter at CBRE, there’s a buzz of anticipation in the air. Rodriguez’s leadership promises to bring fresh energy and innovative ideas to the Miami and Broward operations. Here’s to new beginnings, exciting opportunities, and a bright future in commercial real estate!
